GNER, The Great North Eastern Railway was a rail franchise that connected London with Scotland via Peterborough, Leeds and Newcastle.

 

The former train operating company GNER operated services from London in the South-East, through East Anglia and Yorkshire up to the North East Regions and Scotland to Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow, reaching as far North as Aberdeen and Inverness.


GNER ran their trains on the East Coast Main Line, which is an electrified high-speed train line between London and Edinburgh. The former train route is a vital artery for the Eastern side of Great Britain and is broadly parallel to the A10 trunk road up through the UK.

 

Popular stations that GNER operated to and from included: London Kings Cross, Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Central,  York, Leeds, Peterbrough, Doncaster, Darlington and Durham.
