National Express East Coast were a Train Operating Company in the UK who operated services from London in the South-East, through East Anglia and Yorkshire to Leeds and York and up to the North East Regions and Scotland to Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.  
 

 

National Express East Coast ran their trains on the East Coast Main Line, which is an electrified high-speed train line between London and Edinburgh. The former National Express East Coast train route is a vital artery for the Eastern side of Great Britain and is broadly parallel to the A10 trunk road up through the UK.   
 
NXEC Trains Ltd operated the Intercity East Coast rail franchise under the name of National Express East Coast. NXEC Trains Ltd was part of the National Express Group which won the East Coast Main Line franchise after the parent company of GNER, the previous holder, came into financial difficulties. The National Express East Coast rail franchise connected London with Scotland via Peterborough, Leeds and Newcastle.
